About the Montana Conference on Suicide Prevention
The Montana Conference on Suicide Prevention (COSP) is a live, educational conference activity focused on addressing the significant behavioral and public health issue of suicide in Montana and developing evidence-based, best practice skills for suicide prevention across multiple disciplines.
The Montana Conference on Suicide Prevention is the only annual statewide conference of its kind in Montana.
Hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Montana Chapter, this conference brings together advocates and professionals in learning about suicide prevention strategies in the state and across the nation and equips attendees with strategies in preventing suicide.
The conference is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
The target audience includes: advocates, psychiatrists and other physicians, psychologists, therapists, nurses, physician's assistants, and regular Montana citizens interested in preventing suicide.
Continuing Education Units are available to conference attendees at no charge.

Dr. Jennifer A. Crumlish, Ph.D., PLLC

DR. JENNIFER CRUMLISH received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from The Catholic University of America and is Board Certified in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. Dr. Crumlish is the Assistant Director of the Suicide Prevention Lab at the Catholic University of America under the direction of Dr. David Jobes, where she conducts training, consultation and manages adherence in CAMS for clinicians in studies of adolescent and college age individuals receiving treatment for suicidality. Dr. Crumlish is a Senior Consultant for CAMS-care, where she has conducted training for clinicians in several state correctional facilities, military behavioral health centers and community mental health centers. Dr. Crumlish also maintains a private practice in Washington, D.C. where she provides psychotherapy to adults and couples.
Selin Kelly, LMSW

Selin Kelly, LMSW, is a pediatric psychotherapist and a Clinical Social Work fellow in The Yale Child Study Center (YCSC), Department of Child Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine. She currently serves children and families in the outpatient psychiatry clinic with the aim of optimizing the developmental potential of children and families through culturally humble evidence-based practices. Kelly’s post-graduate training at YCSC focused on providing effective, culturally responsive and trauma-informed rooted in the principles of child development and child psychopathology.
Kelly holds a Master of Science in Social Work degree from Columbia University School of Social Work; where she graduated from the Advanced Clinical Practice Track with a specialty field of practice in Family, Youth and Children's services.
During her graduate training, she had the privilege of working with rural and disenfranchised communities in Montana, providing mental health services to underserved populations. Her internships included placements in hospice, focusing on end-of-life care and grief, as well as in the emergency department, where she served high-acuity needs and provided crisis interventions as a clinician in the psychiatry consultation team. Through her practicum, she gained valuable experience working with marginalized youth and families. Kelly’s clinical interests lie in exploring the intersection of developmental and complex trauma, attachment and grief. She is passionate about implementing evidence-based therapeutic modalities from a holistic perspective for children and families from diverse backgrounds.
Ryan Elledge

Ryan serves as a senior project manager and trainer for Mentor Agility. Concurrently, his passion for trauma-informed coaching has lead him to pursue a Ph.D. in Jungian Studies, aiming to deepen his comprehensive understanding of the relationship between human psychology, trauma, and spirituality. Through his research, Ryan seeks to explore the impact of trauma-informed coaching on veterans, providing them with comprehensive support and guidance.
Ryan is a credentialed coach by the International Coaching Federation (PCC) and the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches (NBC-HWC). He adds to his accomplishments with a personal interest in wellness as a Certified Wellness Chef and Certified Nutrition Consultant. With an undergraduate degree in agroecology, Ryan has a deep understanding of farm to table and the impact of food on wellness.

Tatum Evenson is Project Director for Native Connections for Fort Peck Tribal Health. Native Connections deals with Suicide Prevention activities throughout the entire Fort Peck Indian Reservation.
Tatum has been with the Native Connections Program for 5 years. He is certified in QPR, SafeTALK, ASIST, and Native American Fatherhood and Families Association (NAFFA) Fatherhood Is Sacred®, Motherhood Is Sacred®.
Additionally, Tatum has been certified in Sung Nagi Kici Okiju – Becoming One with the Spirit of the Horse and Rewilding the Tame: Thinking Outside the Arena – a culturally-based approach to the growing fields of Equine Therapy, Therapeutic Riding, and Therapeutic Horsemanship.
Prior to working with the Fort Peck Tribes, Tatum worked many previous jobs while receiving his Business Management and Business Marketing Degrees from Montana State University - Billings.
Joshua B. Spinney, MA, LPC

Josh completed his Bachelor of Art in History and Psychology at Saginaw Valley State University in 2008. Josh completed his Master of Art in Professional Counseling at Central Michigan University in 2012. Josh is employed as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Counselor Supervisor at Cody Regional Health, Cedar Mountain Center. Prior to Josh’s time at Cody Regional Health, Josh provided therapy in clinical and hospital settings. Josh has experience working with a Crisis Intervention Team in Emergency Departments, working in a Community Mental Health agency, and working with adolescents in an inpatient psychiatric hospital in Michigan.
Josh has been with Cody Regional Health since 2015 as a Clinician and Counselor Supervisor working with outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential treatment clients. Josh is experienced with and has treated children and families, adolescents, and adults with a multitude of mental health needs. Josh specializes in working with family systems, severe and persistent mental illness, substance use disorders, mood disorders, and personality disorders. Josh is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Positive Psychology.
Beverly Shore, MS, CPS

Beverly is a Certified Prevention Specialist for Teton County Health Department in Jackson, WY. The director of the Community Prevention Coalition of Teton County and the Suicide Prevention Subcommittee. Prior to prevention, Beverly worked in health and pharmaceutical advocating for the quality of life for patients suffering from diseases spread across seven disease states including, rheumatic diseases and musculoskeletal conditions.
Dr. Jennifer Preble, DSW, LCSW

Jennifer was born and raised in Great Falls, MT. Jennifer completed her Bachelor of Science Degree at Montana Tech of The University of Montana. From there, Jennifer completed both her Masters and Doctorate in Social Work from Walla Walla University. Jennifer is Licensed in the State of Montana as a Clinical Social Worker from the Montana Board of Professional Counselors and Social Workers.
Jennifer has spent years advocating for children and their families both professionally and personally as she is also a Licensed Foster/Adoptive Parent for the Department of Public Health and Human Services; Child and Family Services Division. Jen's clinical expertise is with children and adults suffering from mental illness using a variety of treatment modalities.
Jennifer spends her free time with her son and any other children who might be staying with them temporarily. Jennifer enjoys music, reading, the great outdoors of Montana, and scrapbooking.
Dr. John Sommers-Flanagan

John Sommers-Flanagan is a professor of counseling at the University of Montana, a clinical psychologist, and author or coauthor of over 100 publications, including nine books and many professional training videos. His books, co-written with his wife Rita, include Clinical Interviewing, Tough Kids, Cool Counseling, and Suicide Assessment and Treatment Planning: A Strengths-Based Approach. He has published articles or commentaries in the New England Journal of Medicine, American Psychologist, Professional Psychology, and the Journal of Counseling and Development. In 2018, he produced a three-part, 7.5-hour suicide training video with Psychotherapy.net. John has published many newspaper columns, Op-Ed pieces, and has had articles in Psychotherapy Networker, Counseling Today, and Slate Magazine. In his wild and precious spare time, John loves to run (slowly), dance (poorly), laugh (loudly) and produce home-made family music videos. Leah Finch is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the states of North Carolina, New York, and Montana. She earned her Masters of Arts in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2017. She has worked in private practice, mental health consulting, college counseling, career counseling, and has taught adjunct in graduate counseling programs. She is currently a PhD student in Counselor Education and Supervision at The University of Montana.
Tracy Rassley

Tracy Rassley is AFSP's Programs Manager for Montana and Wyoming. Prior to her role with AFSP, Tracy was a Paralegal for 24 years. She previously served on the AFSP Montana Chapter Board starting in 2016 following the death of her son by suicide in 2015.
Tracy has presented countless trainings of almost all available education programs and is certified as a Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainer. Tracy strives to provide education and awareness to as many individuals as possible; however, her passion for education is particularly strong for teens and college students.
Tracy is also a certified support group facilitator and has facilitated a Parents of Suicide Support Group since 2017. She is a certified volunteer for AFSP’s Healing Conversations Program, has served as the Montana Chapter Coordinator for the Loss and Healing Committee, and by extension Coordinator for the Loss and Healing Program.
